🎤 Interview with Dr. Irene Alfonso Lázaro: veterinary dermatology expert 🐾

Today we have the honor of interviewing Irene Alfonso Lázaro, co-founding partner and Director. DMV.GPCert in Dermatology at Conde Orgaz Veterinary Hospital.

With extensive professional experience and training in small animal oncology and veterinary management, Irene is a true expert in the care of dogs' skin and coat. Her experience and passion for improving the quality of life of our furry friends offer us valuable insights into maintaining their dermatological well-being. 🐶🩺

🌿 The most common skin problems in dogs

Irene highlights that the main reason for consultation is intense pruritus (itching), which leads dogs to scratch themselves to the point of self-injury. The underlying cause is usually allergic, either food-related or environmental, and requires early intervention to prevent lesions and chronic discomfort.

This dachshund is Gus, who came in with periocular alopecia and severe itching, and just 7 days later his owner sent me a photo showing his improvement; he had regrown all his hair and no longer had any itching.

🍂 Factors affecting dog skin and coat health: environmental allergies

According to Irene, there are multiple factors that influence the dermatological health of dogs, including:

  • 🧬 Genetics: breeds with a genetic predisposition to dermatological problems, especially those that become popular and do not receive responsible breeding.
  • 🥘 Diet: it is crucial to choose quality food adapted to the individual needs of each dog.
  • 🌆 Environment: pollution and rising temperatures directly affect skin health.

🌟 The impact of our supplement on her patients

Irene has observed significant improvements when recommending our skin and coat supplement, especially in controlling pruritus in short periods of time. She also highlights that continued use has notably improved the skin and coat quality of her patients, eliminating erythema and giving strength and shine to their fur.

This is Heidi. She was adopted at 13 years old, and her owners brought her to me because she had thin hair and very delicate skin. I diagnosed her with hypothyroidism, and we started her on the supplement. Within a few weeks, not only had the skin's quality notably improved, but she also had more hair, and it had regained its color and shine.

🧪 Why does it work so well?

The specialist emphasizes that the anti-inflammatory effect of the ingredients is fundamental. This property, along with a high vitamin content, strengthens the immune system and optimizes the function of the skin barrier.

🛡️ Long-term prevention and advice for pet owners

Irene reminds us that dermatological conditions are often chronic and that continuous use of the supplement is key to preventing relapses. Additionally, she recommends:

  • 🫧 Regular baths with quality products such as our shampoo, mist, and balm pack.
  • 🐕‍🦺 Frequent brushing adapted to the needs of each breed.
  • 🍽️ Balanced diet that provides all necessary nutrients.

📝 Full interview with Irene Alfonso Lázaro

1. From your experience as a veterinary dermatologist, what are the most common skin problems you see in dogs and what impact can they have on their well-being?

The main problem for which owners come to my clinic, often desperate, is intense pruritus (itching) in patients, which leads to secondary lesions and self-inflicted wounds from scratching. Typically, these problems have an allergic basis.

2. What are the most common factors that affect the health of dogs' skin and coat?

One of the pathologies I diagnose most frequently is allergies, both food-related and environmental. This increase in cases in recent years, although related to the animal's genetics, is especially noticeable in breeds that become fashionable and whose genetics are not sufficiently cared for. Diet, pollution, and rising temperatures also play a role.

3. You have recommended our supplement to some of your patients. What improvements have you observed in the dogs that have taken it?

It's a supplement that has helped me control pruritus in my patients in a very short period of time, and moreover, by maintaining it regularly, all of them have notably improved their skin quality, eliminating erythema and improving the appearance of their coat.

4. From your point of view, what ingredients or properties of this supplement do you believe make it effective?

From my point of view, the powerful anti-inflammatory effect of the ingredients is fundamental. This action, together with the high vitamin content, improves the immune system and results in stronger, shinier hair.

5. In terms of prevention, how can this supplement help reduce dermatological problems long-term?

It is important to continue using the supplement to prevent relapses, as these pathologies are usually chronic. Its continuous use helps maintain an intact skin barrier and optimal immune system levels.

6. For pet owners concerned about their dogs' skin and coat, what other advice or care would you recommend along with the use of this supplement?

I recommend frequent baths with quality shampoos, regular brushing, and a balanced diet.
